Quest for Personal Style

Preppy Look

Happy Fall! Its that time of year again- football games on friday nights and bonfires with your group of friends, pumpkin spice lattes, roasted pumpkin seeds, hot coca and snuggling up under blankets.
Fall is my favorite season (and its my favorite clothing season as well), I love being warm under lots of layers and scarfs, its fantastic!

I am currently at my kitchen table eating breakfast (oatmeal, granola bar, and hot coca) before I head off to the football game today against our biggest rival for my university.
I decided as I was chomping away at my breakfast I would write a post and do a outfit idea since I was feeling inspired this weekend. Thursday night I did some laundry and then proceeded to take almost every single article of clothing that was already hung up and pair them all together to make outfits, (I am always complaining about what to wear in the morning) so I ended up creating about 4-5 weeks worth of outfits (accessories and all) and hung them into my closet to make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. Why didn't I think of this before?!

My style and things I like change constantly, recently I've been into the effortless hipster sort of look- alternative, artistic and staying true to who you are. Yet, the past few days I have been sort of falling in love with the preppy fashion personality. Its clean and classic and always looks put together. When I take fashion personality quizzes online, I tend to get a answer like bohemian, alternative etc. and then sometimes I will get one that tells me I am classic. I want to try and find a balance between all the fashion personalities that I really love and put them together in one that is perfect for me. I hope you join me on this quest for personal style.

I have a couple of things that I have bought recently that I want to do a collective haul post on. Some new nail polishes, shampoo/conditioner, jewelry, planner etc. and I will post it soon once I fulfill my promise of a thrift shopping extravaganza with my roommate (that will be so much fun- she's a hoot).

Hope all is going well in everyones classes, work and just, life in general.

XOXO

My Mad Fat Diary- Inspired Polyvore Outfit

Fall Inspiration

So if any of you watch the British series "My Mad Fat Diary" (holler if you want a season 3!) you are probably just as obsessed with Rae and Finn as I am. So today's inspired outfit is for Rae, the year the series takes places in is (summer) 1996. Rae has sort of a grunge style and she usually has on a band tee, a flannel tied around her waist and some jeans. This outfit is a little bit different with black skinnies instead of bluejeans and the shirt isn't a band shirt, but you can get the general idea. She also doesn't wear a headband but I love the additional touch. The backpack Rae always wears is blue not brown, but its my twist on her outfit, so whatever kind of backpack you want to wear is fine. And the boots! Rae would probably wear this with her converse, but I would wear this with combat boots.

Hope all is well,

XOXO

The twentieth of August

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

I hope all of you are doing quite well on this August day. You haven't heard from me for months in fact, and I apologize, but it keeps happening and I really want to break this "habit" of disappearing. I've been working everyday all summer, so I could pay my fall tuition bill (which I did successfully!) and to be quite honest my laptop hasn't been on very much. I worked, got home, wanted to relax then I went to bed. Very boring, but oh well.

The random yellow wall you see behind me is actually the wall of my apartment. I am living on campus again this year, but I am in a triple apartment (me + 2 roommates) and the apartment is so quaint. We decided on a yellow and grey theme to compliment our yellow/orangish wall. Which excites me greatly because I love those colors together.

So there I am ^^ my hair has gotten longer and lighter from the sun, I've started eating meat again, I just painted my nails royal blue and I am sitting at my kitchen table. I have a few hours until I have to go to band so I am unpacking, lounging about, and finally writing a blog post (even though it is about nothing in particular).

XOXO

p.s. anyone else SUPER excited for fall? I am very happy its coming closer (minus the following snow).

Hello June

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Hi lovlies,

So where do I even begin? So much has changed in the past few weeks and months and I am very excited to tell you-all about it! I would tell you why I've been slacking on here but I should still make time for something I love (blogging). I'm glad to see that people still look at my little blog even though I haven't been making much time for it. Let me start by writing in bullet points to tell you all whats been going on these past few weeks...

(Sorry if this is a long post- I have so much to write about! If you are willing to read it all or did read it all- THANK YOU!)

1) I have successfully completed my first semester as a college freshman! I had 5 classes and ended the year with a GPA of 3.5 (If anyone is offended by my telling you this I apologize, but I am proud of this accomplishment and therefore am going to write about it because this is my blog.) I am proud of this accomplishment because I had told my mother before I left for school last August that my goal for this freshman year was to make it on deans list. And the first semester I didn't make it but had decent grades, then during j-term (one class everyday for three weeks during january) my GPA increased some more with my grade from my public speaking class. Finally during the spring semester I worked REALLY hard and made deans list! :) I am VERY proud of this accomplishment and can check it off of my list of things I wanted to do.

2) These past months have also been really hard for me. A close family friend passed away at the end of february and my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. To be honest I don't know what kind of cancer it is, I don't know the name but it's still cancer. He has his last treatment of chemotherapy tomorrow and then in two weeks will have a scan done to see if he is cancer free. If you would say a prayer that would be wonderful, not just for him but for all the cancer patients and families out there in the world.

3) From May 18-22 I had the amazing chance to go abroad. (If you want me to make a complete Paris post, please comment below). I went to Paris, France. I had the opportunity of a lifetime, and I tried to make it count. It was phenomenal. I can't even begin to describe how beautiful the City of Lights is, the culture, the people, the atmosphere. It blew my mind. I am so in love with the city and want to go back again and again. I even got a tattoo while I was there! (Interested in a tattoo post? Comment below.) I will save the tattoo talk for the Paris related post, I still have yet to upload my pictures to my laptop. But, it was amazing, we saw all the big attractions. Including the eiffel tower of course <3 I am scared of heights, but when I walked out onto the observation deck... all fear left me. I was completely unafraid, it was so beautiful.

4) I start a new job on monday! I am super excited about it. I get paid more than my other job and I have nights and weekends off.

5) So my younger sister, Emma, has lost 50 pounds over the past two years, and I have really been wanting to get in shape, and we were talking about this a few days ago and she ended up giving me a book that she had checked out of the library to read.  And so being a book nerd, I started reading. And decided yesterday that I am going to change my lifestyle. I already had been walking around the lake with my mother and eating healthier and now I really want to up my game. I ended up running 2 miles yesterday and then proceeded to do 45 minutes of intense zumba (in-between the 2 miles. Mile, Zumba then second mile). Even though it was not consecutive I have not run two miles consistently like that for over a year, since I had really been into running. After I had stopped rowing in order to work on getting my grades up higher (SUCCESS!) I didn't work out much. I was stressed out with school work and I would work out some but not really. Until yesterday the last time I had ran was in March. For someone who loves to run that was pathetic of me. So i've decided to get back into running again. I ran again today (only one mile not two) and was surprised at how amazing and familiar it felt. I can't run very fast or far at the moment but at least I am trying to get into better health and shape.

6) SO things that are new and upcoming for this blog. I hope to do some fitness inspired posts, hauls, more OOTD's, DIY's, maybe bring back those crosswords (anyone remember those?) and just try to post more in general. And make the posts interesting and have you all keep coming back for more.

7) I am one of those people who sort of, buy things on impulse, unless I am saving for something big. Like last year I saved up my paychecks and bought my macbook pro. This summer I am saving up for a new phone, a pair of Nike Free 5.0+ running shoes, and running shorts/gear. My current phone works okay, but its been freezing constantly and is having memory issues. (So if anyone thinks what I am about to say is stupid, please exit this screen. it is MY money and I am capable of spending it how i wish to.) I have decided to save up and spend my money on a new phone. (This is my choice so you all are aware) Some might think this is stupid but I figured because I spend so much time on my phone I should be using one that works well and doesn't give me issues. I've decided to save up and buy a phone full price from my verizon kiosk and replace my current phone. As someone who spends money on a whim sometimes, I hate that is how I am but when I have something BIG in mind that I am saving for then I am able to control my spending. This is just how I am.

8) My fashion sense has changed some since I was in paris. I don't even know what my style would be considered in the first place but I know what I would like to work towards it being. It would be a mix of classical pieces with a artsy/indie vibe. Something classical but totally my own. So I decided when purchasing clothing in the fall for back to school I am going to focus on purchasing jackets, accessories and jeans. I have enough tops :P

9) Man, how I am glad its summer. I've needed a break and I've missed blogging so I am ready to get back into it!!!!

Dressing In Black And White

April Favorites

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Hello Lovlies! Today I have my April Favorites post for you! I don't normally do this post but I figured since April ended only yesterday that I was going to do it. So this months favorites are mainly beauty related. I really haven't been wearing as much makeup as I used to in the past to class which is unusual for me but at the same time makes sense because its almost finals week and all I want to do is sleep....  So continuing onward...

So here we have the Beauty Rush tinted lip sheen from Victoria's Secret and it doesn't say the shade, but its a really pretty nude/pink natural color. I wear it everyday to class with the lipgloss that is pictured below.

Ta Da ^ sadly this doesn't say the shade earthier but it is a nude color with a bit of a sparkle. They were bought as part of the 4 for $20 purchases. I also had bought a squeeze tube of lipgloss and a little pink bag (not pictured).

Now, nail polish is my guilty pleasure. I LOVE IT. These Spoiled nail colors are gorgeous and I have been wearing the one on the left (your fly's down) for the past two weeks I believe. I've been wearing it as long as I have had it. The reason I am so attracted to it is because it matches my skin tone perfectly. (No i'm not blue) but it complements, there we go, it complements my skin tone perfectly and looks bold and so good.

Statement necklaces. This glitzy one from Rue21 is adorable and so feminine. It might be more glitzy than some would like but personally I find with a simple outfit it works perfectly.

Yes, this is very very very loved and looks rough. But its just because I end up taking this with me everywhere. I believe my grandma actually gave this to me a year or so ago.

Clinique Soft-pressed Powder blusher in New Clover

If you are looking for an amazing dark circle concealer... this is fantastic... and lasts a long time. I also have the foundation version (or I think its the foundation version, its just the larger version).

Wet-n-wild MegaGlo Illuminating Power in Catwalk Pink.
This is my second one of these actually. My sister and I had both bought one last summer and i used mine all up and she didn't so she gave it to me (so this one is from her, Thanks Em!)

My Favorite powder so far! Rimmel London Stay Matte long lasting pressed powder in 003 Natural. I really like this powder a lot. This is a new powder since monday as I have just ran out.

I've been using this stuff for about a month now and I must say that I do very much recommend it. I feel like my hair has grown a lot and feels a lot heather. At the CVS near my campus its $8 a bottle but at target or even walmart its much cheaper. plus... its a GINORMOUS bottle.

EEEPP! I am so excited about this actually. This is Paris by Paris Hilton. And I bought it for $5 at Marshalls a couple weeks ago along with a small Betsy Johnson makeup bag, and its wonderful I must say. I've never bought perfume before (kinda sad right?) but I always just get body sprays from bath and body works... so I have never smelled this before I bought it and it was totally impulse but it smells  SO GOOD.

So I hope you have enjoyed my April favorites post. I do have a post in mind for maybe this weekend or fairly soon, I've been buying spring Accessories so would you guys like a spring accessories haul or something along that line? I also have new spring cloths that I can't wait to show you so that should be coming fairly soon.

I have a presentation tomorrow (UGH) so I am going to start practicing....

XOXO
